# When it asks you

## Questions

When a decision is yours (which config, a name with consequences, a step it cannot undo), Humboldt asks: the question, options, and the default it would take. Up to four questions per ask.

| Do | Effect |
| ------- | -------------------- |
| Number | Pick an option |
| Type | Answer in your words |
| `enter` | Take the default |

Away from the terminal it takes the default and continues. The question waits on the transcript; your later answer reaches it as a message. A question with no default waits for you.

Sub-agents never ask.

## Feedback

When it wants your judgment rather than a decision, it shows what it did, where the proof is, and what to rate. Mark each item (yes/no or 1 to 5) and add a line if you want.

It never waits on you. The checkpoint goes on the transcript, the model carries on, and your judgment reaches it as a message whenever you give it. The same holds for a decision it puts to you with its own pick sealed.

## Approvals

Leaving the sandbox always asks. See [Sandbox and approvals](/sandbox).
