# Sign in

> Sign in to Metaphi AI from a browser, a command line tool or an MCP client.

One Metaphi AI account signs you in to every product. Sign in with Google or with GitHub at [app.metaphi.ai](https://app.metaphi.ai).

| Where | How |
| - | - |
| The console | Open [app.metaphi.ai/console](https://app.metaphi.ai/console) and choose Google or GitHub |
| A command line tool (`hum login`, `kennet login`) | The browser opens. Sign in, then confirm the code the terminal shows |
| An MCP client | The server answers `401` with a `WWW-Authenticate` header. The client opens the browser, you sign in, and the client keeps the token |

Signing in with GitHub also [connects GitHub](https://docs.metaphi.ai/account/github.md) to your account.

## What you hold

Signing in gives you what your [organization](https://docs.metaphi.ai/account/organizations.md) holds on the product you signed in to. A product lists only what your access reaches.

If your account holds nothing on that product, sign-in is refused with:

```text theme={"dark"}
<email> is not approved for <resource>; ask Metaphi to approve you, then sign in again
```

`<resource>` is the product's address, such as `https://harwell.metaphi.ai/mcp/`. [Request access](https://docs.metaphi.ai/account/access.md), then sign in again.

After your organization's access changes, sign in again so your client's token carries it.

## Services

A service sends an [organization key](https://docs.metaphi.ai/account/keys.md) instead of signing in:

```http theme={"dark"}
Authorization: Bearer mai_sk_...
```

See [Errors](https://docs.metaphi.ai/account/errors.md) for every sign-in and key failure.
